About this event

Rudhirsetu Seva Sanstha is honoured to present the Raktasakhi Sanman Sohala — a felicitation ceremony dedicated to the remarkable women who have selflessly donated blood and, in doing so, have become true companions in the gift of life. The word 'Raktasakhi' is derived from Marathi, meaning 'blood friend' or 'blood companion', and it is a title that reflects the deep gratitude and respect this organisation holds for every woman who has stepped forward to donate. The event was held on 9th March 2025, on the occasion of International Women's Day, at Milantirth, Kalimata Mandir Hall, Sector-13, New Panvel (E). The timing of this ceremony was deliberate and meaningful — a day set aside globally to celebrate the strength, compassion, and contributions of women, made all the more significant by honouring those who have contributed in one of the most direct and life-saving ways possible. Women blood donors play a vital and often underrecognised role in sustaining the blood supply for patients in critical need — whether in emergency care, surgical procedures, or the ongoing treatment of conditions such as thalassemia and anaemia. Their willingness to donate not only saves lives but also serves as a powerful inspiration to others in their families and communities, encouraging a culture of voluntary blood donation. Through the Raktasakhi Sanman Sohala, Rudhirsetu Seva Sanstha seeks to formally acknowledge these contributions, celebrate the spirit of service that defines each donor, and affirm that such acts of generosity do not go unnoticed. It is the organisation's sincere hope that this recognition will inspire many more women to come forward as blood donors, and that together, we may build a community where no patient suffers for want of blood.
